Erie, PA : Erie woman cited in refuse truck crash on Wednesday, June 14, 2017
Erie police have cited a city woman for running a red light in a Wednesday morning crash that sent an Erie refuse truck into a barbershop on the city’s west side.
Police identified the woman on Thursday as Beth Ann Servidio, 38. She was driving a 2009 Toyota north on Cherry Street when she ran a red light and collided with the refuse truck, which was traveling west on West 18th Street, according to investigators.
Both vehicles tried to avoid the collision, said Erie police Sgt. Jeff Annunziata, who reviewed surveillance video from buildings near the crash scene as part of the investigation. But the refuse truck veered north and crashed into a building on the northwest corner of the intersection, which houses Ruiz Barber Shop.
The truck driver suffered minor injuries, and the building received significant damage, according to police and city officials.
