Pittsburgh, PA : Woman dies in Fayette County car crash on Monday, 5th September 2016
A 27-year-old Fayette County woman was killed early Monday morning when she was ejected from her car when it overturned along Route 281 in Henry Clay Township, state police at Uniontown said.
Tamara A. Shumaker of Confluence died of blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:30 a.m., Fayette County Coroner Dr. Phillip Reilly said.
The one-vehicle accident occurred about 1:30 a.m. as Shumaker's northbound car hit a culvert south of the Flanigan Road intersection, went airborne and returned to the highway, causing the car to overturn, police said. Shumaker, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle, which continued for a short distance, police said.
The Confluence fire department and Fayette County EMS assisted police at the scene, about four miles south of the intersection of routes 281 and 40.
