Sherburne ,NY : 38-year-old man was drunk when he stole a pickup truck and rammed another vehicle at a police traffic barrier on Tuesday night , January 13th, 2015

Authorities say a 38-year-old man was drunk when he stole a pickup truck and rammed another vehicle at a police traffic barrier set up at the scene of an earlier accident on a central New York road.

The Chenango County Sheriff's Office says Jeremy Sawyer of Norwich stole the truck in his hometown Tuesday night. He drove on Route 12, where police were at the scene of an accident involving a tractor-trailer that had gone off the road.

Officers say Sawyer crashed head-on into another vehicle, causing the pickup to catch fire. Police managed to pull Sawyer out of the truck. A woman in the other vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
