Monroe Township, NJ : A single-vehicle crash in Monroe Township on Tuesday, 16th October 2018
Monroe Township, New Jersey
A 68-year-old man from Ohio was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday in Monroe Township.
Theodore P. Poulos was driving northbound on I-75 when his vehicle left the roadway, eventually crashing into the LaPlaisance Creek, according to reports from local police.
He was pronounced dead by Monroe Community Ambulance officials at 5:45 p.m. His body was transported to the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office.
While the official time of the crash remains unknown, Michigan State Police assistant Monroe post commander Lt. Jim Jarrett said it’s “highly likely” the crash occurred about the same time as the fatal traffic crash on US-23 in Whiteford Township.
Michigan State Police troopers, along with assistance from Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies, responded to the crash about 5 p.m. near northbound I-75, south of LaPlaisance Rd.
Poulos’ SUV was overturned in the LaPlaisance Creek with all four doors closed, but its rear hatch open, according to reports.
