Bristol, VA : Driver charged with DUI in multi-vehicle crash on Saturday night, July 5, 2014
Police arrested a man Saturday night after an investigation of a multi-vehicle crash on Piedmont Avenue in downtown Bristol.
Officer Wendy Brewer of the Bristol Virginia Police Department said James Larry Parsons Jr., 37, of Bristol, Va., was driving a 2010 Mazda CX-7 a little after 9 p.m. with severe damage to the front and rear bumpers, as well as damage to the entire passenger side.
Brewer says in a statement that several witnesses observed Parsons traveling northbound on Piedmont Avenue and striking four parked vehicles, one of which was occupied. Pedestrians had to get into the vehicle on the passenger side to get Parsons to stop until police arrived.
Parsons was placed under arrest and charged with driving under the influence, three counts of hit and run of unattended property, one count of felony hit and run of attended property, and one summons for failure to provide proof of liability insurance.
Parsons was taken to the Bristol Virginia Jail and is currently awaiting a bond hearing.
No injuries were reported.
Parsons is a local musician who performs under the stage name JP Parsons.
