Los Angeles, CA : Two people injured in 110 Freeway crash north of downtown LA early Saturday morning, May 7, 2016

Two people were injured early Saturday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on the 110 Freeway, just north of downtown, which left one vehicle over the side of the freeway and temporarily shut down several lanes, according to authorities.

The collision occurred at 12:15 a.m. on the northbound 110 Freeway near West College Street, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball and Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

The crash between a Hummer and a Jeep sent the Hummer careening off the freeway, landing in a parking lot at 711 W. College St., Kimball said. The jeep, meanwhile, ended up overturned on the freeway.

One person was trapped in one of the vehicles and needed to be freed by firefighters, Stewart said. Paramedics transported two people to a hospital for treatment of injuries. Their conditions were not immediately known. There was no word yet on their genders and ages.

The collision shut down the No. 2 and 3 lanes on the freeway, Kimball said. A SigAlert was declared by the CHP at 12:50 a.m. The roadway was cleared and the SigAlert cancelled at 3 a.m., according to the CHP.

The crash remained under investigation by the CHP.
