Lowell, MA : Motorcyclist injured in Lowell collision on Saturday September 24 2016

A 27-year-old motorcycle rider suffered a possible compound fracture to his leg in a collision with a vehicle on North Billerica Road in Lowell near the Tewksbury town line Saturday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of North Billerica Road and Hollis Street, about 4:15 p.m., for a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and a car in which the motorcycle rider had a compound leg fracture, according to Fire Department radio broadcasts.

Firefighters from Engine 11 arrived at the scene and reported the rider was conscious and alert but had a broken leg. They initially requested a MedFlight helicopter meet the rider at the Cawley Stadium, but later canceled that request.
Police said the rider was taken by ambulance to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington with non- life-threatening injuries.

The driver of a small blue Toyota sedan that remained at the scene largely declined to comment, but said he never saw the motorcycle coming as he was making a turn.

No charges were filed, pending completion of an investigation. More information was not immediately available.
