Police were searching on Friday for a driver who fled the scene after a crash in Seaside that killed his passenger.
A single-vehicle wreck happened at 6:30 p.m. Thursday on northbound Highway 1 near Canyon Del Rey Boulevard in Seaside.
The California Highway Patrol said a red 2005 Nissan Titan truck flipped off the side of Highway 1, rolled down the embankment and landed upside-down on an offramp.
CHP officer Jaime Rios said a 20-year-old Salinas man was driving. He fled on foot, leaving his two injured passengers behind.

The second passenger in the vehicle, identified as a 24-year-old Salinas man, suffered moderate head injuries and was transported to a hospital.
A case of beer was found on the crumpled truck's dashboard.
