Brookland ,AR :One dead after SUV and semi-truck collided on Tuesday afternoon ,July 14th 2015

One person has died after a SUV and a semi-truck collided Tuesday afternoon.

It happened at the intersection of Highway 49B and School Street.

According to crews on the scene, 1 person was killed and another was taken to NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro.

A sheriff's deputy with the Craighead County Sheriff's Office told our reporter on the scene that the 2 injured people were in the SUV and the driver of the semi is doing fine.

Crews on the scene said it appears the SUV ran the stop sign on School Street and was hit by the semi-truck.

The Brookland Fire Department had to remove the door to the SUV to get the body of the deceased out of the vehicle, and a tow truck arrived shortly after to move the wreckage.

A section of the road was blocked off for some time.

Police couldn't release the names or ages of those involved, but they did confirm the person who died is a minor.
