Council Bluffs, IA : Motorcyclist dies in Mills County wreck on Sunday, March 19, 2017

A Council Bluffs man died Sunday from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle wreck.

Patrick Serrano Sr., 44, was southbound on 221st Street near Elrod Avenue on a 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he hit a black 2015 Dodge Ram pickup from behind, according to the Mills County Sheriff’s Office. The wreck occurred around 1:50 p.m. about four miles north of Glenwood.

Serrano died from his injuries at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

The sheriff’s office said the pickup, driven by David Lawrence Jr. of Council Bluffs, was stopped on 221st Street behind another vehicle that was waiting to turn left onto Elrod Avenue. Investigators believe Serrano didn’t see the pickup truck.

A medical helicopter transported Serrano to Nebraska Medical. Glenwood Rescue transported Shannon Nibbe of Council Bluffs, a passenger on the motorcycle, to the same hospital, where she remains in fair condition.

Lawrence and his passengers in the truck — his wife and three children — were uninjured.
