A car slid off the ice-covered roadway Sunday in Camden County causing a single vehicle crash.
David Gross was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 54 in his 2005 Lincoln Continental at approximately 11:40 a.m. The Ozark resident slid off the right side of the road due to the icy road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. He struck a guardrail and then a tree, landing on the left roadside. His car suffered moderate damage.
Gross was not wearing his seatbelt when troopers found him on the scene.
The 65-year-old suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Lake Regional Hospital by ambulance.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of the state of Missouri Sunday. The advisory warned of light freezing rain resulting in the potential for a light glazing of ice to form on roads.
