A service member died after his motorcycle struck a car that was turning into a driveway, authorities said Saturday.
Luis Billingslea, 52, an active military member stationed at Fort Gordon in Georgia, died from his injuries, McCormick County Coroner Faye Puckett said.
The wreck happened at 8:10 p.m Friday along S.C. Highway 28 near Bethlehem Church Road in McCormick County.
A 36-year-old McCormick man was driving north along S.C. 28 in a 2006 Dodge Charger when he made a left turn into a private driveway, according to Cpl. Bill Rhyne with the state Highway Patrol. He said a southbound 2007 Honda motorcycle struck the car as it was turning.
Billingslea, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to an area hospital where he died, Rhyne said.
The driver of the Charger was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
The wreck remains under investigation by Highway Patrol.
