Tampa, FL : Six children hurt as school bus overturns in Hernando crash on Wednesday, 18th April 2018
Alexander Segovia, 33, of Ocala, was hauling toilet paper in the 2017 truck south on I-75 and exited at S.R. 50, the FHP said. He was driving in the west outside lane, trooper said, when he failed to make a full stop at a red light, partially entered the intersection and collided with the bus.
Bus 365 was driven by Carmen Frongillo, 62, of Brooksville, and was carrying 18 students to Hernando High.
Six children who suffered minor injuries were being treated at the scene. Hernando County school district spokeswoman Karen Jordan said one female student was taken to the hospital after she arrived at school and complained of neck pain.
Parents were notified about the crash via the school district’s mobile app at about 6:50 a.m., Jordan said. The intersection remained closed until about 8:48 a.m.
Segovia was cited for violation of a traffic signal, troopers said.
