Chicago, IL : Five people were injured in a two-car crash on Sunday, October, 22nd 2017

Five people were injured in a two-car crash Sunday morning in the Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

At 3:56 a.m., a man was speeding north in the 1900 block of North Cicero when he rear-ended another vehicle that was slowing down for a traffic light, according to Chicago Police.

The 32-year-old man driving the speeding vehicle was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition stabilized, police said. He had suffered a laceration to his lower, left leg.

The 28-year-old man driving the vehicle that was struck was taken with unknown injuries to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said. There were three passengers in his vehicle.

A 21-year-old man was taken in serious condition to Illinois Masonic with back pain, police said.

A 24-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman were taken to Stroger Hospital, police said. The older woman suffered unknown injuries and her condition stabilized, and the younger woman was in critical condition with broken bones and a lacerated liver.

The man driving the speeding vehicle was taken into police custody, and the Police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
