Orange County, FL : 64-year-old man killed in 13th hit-and-run crash in of the year in Orange on Wednesday, 4th August 2021

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a 64-year-old pedestrian dead Wednesday night in Orange County, the agency said. The FHP also noted the incident marked the 13th hit-and-run fatality of the year in Orange County — the number is more than double from the same time last year, which was six.

Wednesday’s crash took place at around 11:28 p.m. near Pine Hills Road and Belco Drive, said FHP’s Lt. Kim Montes.

A white, four-door Toyota was traveling south on Pine Hills when an unidentified man was attempting to cross the street, away from the crosswalk, Montes said.

The Toyota struck the man, whom was then thrown into a second sedan that was stopped in a private driveway, Montes said. The Toyota driver then fled the scene, Montes said.
