NORTH VERNON, IN : A North Vernon teenager died in a two-vehicle accident on April, Sunday 30th 2017
A North Vernon teenager died in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 50 near State Road 750 at 3 p.m. Sunday, Indiana State Police said.
Investigators from the state police Versailles Crash Reconstruction Team said a gray 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Michael C. Furlong, 53, Cynthiana, Kentucky was traveling westbound U.S. 50 at State Road 750.
Furlong’s vehicle entered State Road 750 into the path of a westbound red 1995 GMC being driven by Caleb M. Fish, age 18, North Vernon, said Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, Indiana State Police spokesman. The vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection and then left the north side of U.S. 50 before coming to rest.
Fish was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jennings County Coroner’s Office, Wheeles said. Furlong and a female passenger had non-life threatening injuries in the crash. They were both transported to St. Vincent-Jennings Hospital in North Vernon for treatment of their injuries.
An investigation into the accident is continuing.
