Pittsburgh, PA : Homewood man dies in head-on crash on Mifflin Road on Friday, April 8, 2016
A Homewood man died Friday in a head-on crash on Mifflin Road, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office said.
Doctors at UPMC Mercy, Uptown, pronounced Brian Coker, 45, dead around 5:15 p.m. An autopsy will be performed Saturday.
Pittsburgh police, fire and medics responded to the 700 block of Mifflin Road, straddled by Hays and New Homestead, for a two-vehicle accident at approximately 5 p.m., said Public Safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler.
A vehicle driven by a man, later identified as Coker, collided head-on with another vehicle, Toler said. Paramedics transported Coker to UPMC Mercy in critical condition.
The other driver, also a male, was walking and alert. Paramedics transported him to Mercy to be checked by physicians, Toler said.
The road was closed so that it could be processed by police accident investigators.
