Monett, MO : 2 hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 60 east of Monett on Wednesday, September 28, 2016

A two-vehicle crash on Highway 60 east of Monett at approximately 3:25 p.m. on Wednesday sent two people to area hospitals.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Patrick Jordan, 28, of Clearwater, Kan., driving a 2007 Mazda SUV, was driving east on Highway 60 when he executed a U-turn while driving a quarter mile east of Farm Road 1100, by the the Berean Christian Academy driveway. The Mazda was struck broadside by an eastbound 2004 Pontiac GTO, driven by Louis M. Soto, 22, of Verona.

Missouri Highway Patrol, Monett city and rural firefighters and two Barry-Lawrence Ambulances responded to the scene. Soto, who was wearing a safety belt, received serious injuries, described as a broken femur, and was taken by air ambulance from the Monett Walmart landing zone to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment. Tammy Coe, 19, of El Dorado, Kan., a passenger in Jordan's Mazda, received moderate injuries and was transported by Barry-Lawrence Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Joplin for treatment.

Patrick, who was wearing a safety belt, was unhurt.

Both vehicles received extensive damage.
