Jacksonville, TX : Wells woman dies in one-vehicle wreck on Wednesday, October, 11th 2017

A Wells woman died Wednesday morning in a wreck about three miles north of Alto on U.S. 69, according to Texas Department of Public Safety officials.

Laura Songer White, 76, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Tony Johnson, and her body was taken to O.T. Allen Funeral Home in Alto.

The wreck occurred about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Preliminary crash reports indicate White, the driver of a 2012 Jeep Wrangler, was traveling south on US 69 when the vehicle drifted off the roadway into the west ditch, struck a culvert on a private drive and overturned.
