NILES, MI : Niles woman hurt in crash on Pokagon Highway near Barron Lake Road in Pokagon Township on Sunday, 19th January, 2020

A Niles woman suffered minor injuries when she lost control of her vehicle early Sunday morning.

The accident happened about 6:45 a.m. on Pokagon Highway near Barron Lake Road in Pokagon Township.

Samantha Robertson, 49, of Niles, was westbound on Pokagon Highway when she lost control of her vehicle and struck the railroad tracks near the intersection with Barron Lake Road, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. Robertson suffered minor injuries and was transported to Lakeland Hospital in Niles.

Robertson was wearing a seat belt, and alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash, police said.

Assisting agencies included Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance Service and the Howard Township Fire Department.
