YORK, ME : Crash on I-95 sent one driver to York Hospital with minor injuries on Saturday, July 15, 2017
York police have arrested a man who they said fled the scene of an assault and caused several crashes Saturday.
Police arrested Mark Maclean, 51, of Kittery, on Sunday, in Lyman.
Police said it began when they were responding to an incident at Microtel, where officers met with a woman who fled her hotel room after she said she was assaulted by her boyfriend. While police interviewed the victim, dispatchers said they received calls reporting several hit-and-run crashes.
The woman told police discovered her boyfriend assaulted her and fled the scene in her car before police arrived. As he was fleeing the scene, he struck a car and a guardrail on Spur Road.
He then drove away and got onto I-95, colliding with another car south of the York River Bridge. Police said he lost control of the car and went off the road. He then fled the scene on foot.
Maine State Police attempted to apprehend the suspect, but officers were unsuccessful.
The crash on I-95 sent one driver to York Hospital with minor injuries.
