Buxton, OR : Dump truck driver escapes serious injury after vehicle goes down embankment in Buxton Monday on July 7, 2014

A dump truck driver was rescued by passers-by near Buxton after he drove over a tree down across a portion of Oregon 47 and then went down an embankment on Monday, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

The 50-year-old male driver reported not seeing the tree in the roadway near Oregon 47 and Northwest Nowakowski Road when he lost control of the truck and went off the road about 2:30 p.m., said Sgt. Bob Ray, a sheriff's spokesman.

Passers-by helped the man out of the dump truck and he was later treated at the scene for minor injuries, Ray said. The tree likely fell into the roadway, according to Ray.

No one else was injured and Oregon State Police is investigating the crash. The downed tree and crashed truck have temporarily closed the roadway.
