Platteville Police Chief Michael Root said the crash happened about 6:25 a.m. Tuesday when a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica went off the west side of U.S. 85 into a retention pond. Root said he believed all six occupants of the Pacifica were injured, though he didn’t know for sure. He didn’t know how many were taken to the hospital. He said a small child was taken to Children’s Hospital in Denver. Others were taken to North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
Authorities closed one lane of southbound U.S. 85 Tuesday morning for about three hours while they worked to investigate the crash, he said, though traffic was still moving on the highway.
