Bybee, TN : Cocke Co. man charged in deadly hit-and-run crash on Glendale Road in Bybee on Monday, November 10, 2014

Cocke deputies arrested a man they say hit and killed a 78-year-old woman with his vehicle and took off. The crash happened at about 2:30 p.m. Monday in front of a home on Glendale Road in Bybee. The sheriff's office identified the victim as Fannie Sue Moore. Neighbors told WBIR that Moore went by "Miss Em" in the community and was a friendly and kind woman. Fred Barnes, who lives down the road, says he couldn't believe that someone would hurt her and not stop to help. "She's a lovely lovely lady-- never did anything to bother anybody," he said. Another driver made the call to 911 after stopping and finding Moore lying in the road. Deputies said a several-hour investigation led them about a mile down the road to home of, Bobby Joe Valentine. Officials arrested Valentine about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. They charged the 60-year-old with failure to render aide and leaving the scene of an accident with death. The Cocke County Sheriff's Department says Valentine was intoxicated at the time of his arrest, but it is not clear at this time if alcohol played a factor in the accident. Once the investigation comes to completion, the evidence will be presented to a grand jury to see if further charges are needed. Source : Cocke Co. man charged in deadly hit-and-run
