Davenport,IA : Charges filed in Acri crash on December, Tuesday 12th 2017
The Moline Police Department has released more information concerning the crash in which Moline Mayor Stephanie Acri was injured.
The crash happened around 7:40 a.m. Dec. 4 when two vehicles collided at the intersection of 7th Street and 34th Avenue, according to an initial release from the department. Acri and two others were sent to the hospital, none with life-threatening injuries.
Police said this week that two citations were issued — one to each driver. Acri, who was driving a 2008 BMW, was cited for failure to yield-stop at intersection, and Doaa Hassan, driving a 1997 Toyota 4Runner, was cited for failure to secure a child younger than 8.
The contributing cause of the collision was the initial failure to yield at the intersection by Acri, police said.
Acri, who said she has broken ribs and breaks in her pelvis, said Monday that she was working remotely and that Alderman Sonia Berg, at large, who is December’s mayor pro tem, would be helping her with the city workload.
