Nottingham, N.H : Three students injured when school bus hits tree in Nottingham on Tuesday afternoon, February 3, 2015

Three students from Nottingham School were injured Tuesday afternoon when their school bus crashed into a tree on Deerfield Road.

Police Chief Gunnar Foss said the students were transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries that included mostly lacerations.

One student may have suffered a broken arm, he said.

The school bus driver, identified as Stephanie Boyd of Epsom, refused treatment, police said.

The accident happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. in the area of 99 Deerfield Road.

The front of the bus sustained significant front-end damage. It was resting on the side of the road against a tree.

Foss said the large tree likely prevented the bus from rolling down a 50-foot embankment along the road.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, but the road was snow-covered.
