The driver of a sedan died early Sunday when the car slammed into a concrete barrier, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities identified the victim as Shane Ross, 23. A city of residence was not immediately available.
Details about the wreck were still being gathered by officers, but CHP Officer Ron Simmons confirmed that Ross was the only occupant of the vehicle when the car crashed at 164th Avenue at Foothill Boulevard at 5:53 a.m.
The CHP shut down 164th Avenue in both directions to investigate. It was not known how long the lanes would remain closed.
