Columbus,OH : Keystone football player killed in car crash on December, Wednesday 27th 2017

The Keystone High School community is mourning the death of one of its students.

Kayden Williams, a 17-year-old junior and athlete at the school, died in a car crash early Dec. 27, authorities said.

The school district on Dec. 27 posted a message on its Facebook page notifying the community of Kayden’s death.

“As we mourn this loss, we offer our prayers and deepest sympathy to Kayden’s family and friends,” the district post said.

Keystone High’s cafeteria and study hall was to open from 6-8 p.m. Dec. 27 for anyone who wanted to come together to grieve the loss of Kayden, the district said.

According to a news release from the Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers responded to a reported vehicle in a ditch about 3:59 a.m. Dec. 27 in the 10800 block of West Ridge Road in Carlisle Township.

When troopers arrived on scene, they discovered a gold Chevrolet Blazer overturned where a male was identified as Kayden and pronounced dead, the release said.

Kayden’s body was extracted from the vehicle and transported to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center.

The exact time of the crash and the direction of travel is not yet known, the release said.

Kayden was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the release.

The crash remains under investigation, and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a factor.

Kayden was an offensive lineman and linebacker for the Keystone football team. He recorded two sacks in the 2017 season.
