Putnam County, NY : Cop critically injured in motorcycle crash on the Taconic Parkway in New York on Wednesday, June 22, 2016

A West Haven police motorcycle officer was seriously injured during a training exercise Wednesday on the Taconic Parkway in New York, the LoHud news site reports.

The officer, who has not been identified, was participating in a multi-agency drill at about 1:50 p.m. near the Bryant Park Road exit in Putnam County, when his cycle collided with another one as they moved over to let a vehicle enter the parkway. The West Haven officer was thrown from his bike onto the roadway.

The West Haven officer was taken by Medivac helicopter to the Westchester Medical Center, where he is in critical condition. The other rider was not hurt, LoHud reports. The parkway was clsoed in that area for several hours.
