Cocoa, FL : One person killed in crash west of Cocoa on Wednesday, 1st January, 2020

One person was killed early Wednesday morning after a crash in Central Brevard County west of Cocoa, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded to Friday Road just north of State Road 520 around 3:20 a.m. where a pedestrian was struck and killed while walking along the road.

Melbourne resident Eric Ferguson, 48, called 911 nearly two hours after the crash to report that he'd hit someone while driving, according to FHP reports.

Troopers said Jason Strandberg, 38, of Cocoa was identified as the pedestrian.

The crash remains under investigation.
