Charlotte, N.C : Woman injured after a hit-and-run crash in west Charlotte on Wednesday night, April 1, 2015

A woman was rushed to the hospital after a hit-and-run in west Charlotte late Wednesday night.

Police said it happened on Thornton Road just before 11 p.m.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said a friend was dropping off the victim at her home and while she was standing next to the car, she reached in to grab her purse.

That when a car crashed into the door and drove off, according to police.
