Paul Tarr was eastbound on River Road just before noon when the crash occurred, Maine State Police Sgt. Josh Haines said in a written statement.
Tarr lost control of his 2006 Honda motorcycle, which careened off the roadway, Haines said. The driver was injured as the motorcycle went airborne after striking an embankment and crashing.
Tarr was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital by Houlton Ambulance and likely will be transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center because of the nature of the injuries, Haines reported.
The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.
