Norfolk, VA : Police chase ends with car crashing at Norfolk State University on Monday, 29th August, 2016
A vehicle pursuit began in Chesapeake and ended with a car crashing at Norfolk State University Monday evening.
Leo Kosinski, police spokesman, said Chesapeake dispatchers were notified of the pursuit around 6:50 p.m. when the pursuit was initiated by Chesapeake police at Campostella Road and Berkley Avenue. Kosinski said the pursuit was short and ended with the car crashing in front of NSU.
Norfolk dispatchers said they were notified of the incident at 6:51 p.m. and said it ended at Park Avenue and East Brambleton Avenue.
Kosinski said the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody and the passenger of the vehicle got away. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the crash. Kosinski said charges against the driver are pending, and Chesapeake will be charging him.
There have been no names released at this point. Neither Chesapeake nor Norfolk police had information as to why the pursuit was initiated. The incident is under investigation.
