Riverside, CA : Riverside man, 78, dies in surgery after collision at the intersection of Main Street and Placentia Lane on Tuesday, 28th April, 2020
A 78-year-old Riverside resident died in surgery after being in a traffic collision on Tuesday, April 28, the Riverside Police Department said.
The man, whose name has not been publicly announced, appeared to have minor injuries after the crash at the intersection of Main Street and Placentia Lane just after 11 a.m., Sgt. Erich Feimer said.
“We are still waiting on the coroner’s report, but it seems they discovered moderate injuries at the hospital and decided to do surgery. I have not had confirmation yet if it was the actual injury that caused the death,” Feimer said.
The man was driving a Toyota Camry north on Main when he entered the intersection. A 21-year-old woman driving a Toyota Tacoma west on Placentia stopped at the sign at the two-way stop before also entering the intersection to turn left onto Main. She failed to yield the right of way to the Camry, Feimer said.
The woman suffered minor injuries but declined to be hospitalized.
Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the collision, Feimer said.
