KENNESAW, GA : 1 killed in Ernest Barrett Parkway crash on Friday, 12th July 2024

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday morning in Cobb County.

The Cobb County Police Department (CCPD) says it happened on Ernest Barrett Parkway at its intersection with Stilesboro Road at 4:55 a.m.

Investigators say the preliminary investigation revealed a blue Hyundai Sonata, driven by 20-year-old Amy Wamweya, of Kennesaw, was traveling north on Ernest Barrett Parkway, west of Stilesboro Road and for reasons unknown, Wamweya “failed to maintain a single lane of travel, crossed over the raised concrete median and collided with a utility pole.”

Wamweya was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.
