Lake Grove, NY : Driver and passenger critically injured after 2-car crash on Long Island on Wednesday, Sep 2, 2015

Police say a driver and his passenger were critically injured in a collision with another car.

Suffolk County police say it happened on Wednesday in Lake Grove at around 7 p.m.

They say Christopher Ferchland was driving a pickup truck on Route 25 when he struck a Honda Crosstour making a left turn into the Smith Haven Mall.

The pickup then hit a utility pole.

The 34-year-old Ferchland and his female passenger were taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the other car and her passenger were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Both cars were impounded for safety checks.
