SOUTHPORT, NY : Daughter charged with DWI after crash killed her mom, injured her dad on Easter on Sunday, 4th April 2021
A woman was charged with DWI after a crash on Easter Sunday that killed her mother and injured her father near Elmira, according to the New York State Police.
Cheryl Picarazzi, 32, of Pine City was driving east on Mountain View Drive in the town of Southport at about 6 p.m. when her vehicle went off the road on a curve and struck multiple trees, police said in a news release Monday.
Her mother, Karen Lamb, 58, of Elmira, was in the back seat and was not wearing a seatbelt, police said. She was pronounced dead at Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira.
Picarazzi’s father, Robert Perry, 69, was in the front seat and was wearing a seatbelt. He was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA for serious injuries, police said.
Picarazzi was transported to Robert Packer Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
