Raleigh, NC : Two people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash at I-40 On Saturday, August 20th, 2016
A multi-vehicle crash closed all westbound lanes of I-40 at N. Harrison Avenue (exit 7) for more than an hour on Saturday.
The wreck, which happened around 3:35 p.m. on Saturday, also closed at least one lane headed east for more than an hour, the NC DOT said.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said that people were injured in the crash, but did not have additional details.
All lanes were closed heading west until 4:45 p.m., when two lanes were reopened. Another lane was reopened just before 6 p.m. and the entire road was open by 6:25 p.m.
Until just after 6 p.m. westbound traffic was backed up to the Wade Avenue split. Eastbound traffic was also backed up, but appeared to be moving by 5:45 p.m.
The wreck appears to have involved at least four vehicles with one car wedged between guardrails in the median, according to NC DOT images from the scene.
