OROVILLE, CA : CHP investigates deadly crash on Highway 99 in Butte Co. Weds morning on Tuesday, 10th September 2024

A two-vehicle crash on Highway 99, north of Gridley, left a person dead this morning.

The CHP said around 6:13 a.m., a silver Honda Civic carrying three people was traveling northbound on Highway 99 toward Biggs. Meanwhile, a silver GMC Sierra pickup was heading eastbound on Curley Lane and attempted to enter Highway 99.

The CHP said the driver of GMC did not notice the approaching Civic, which had its headlights off and pulled directly into its path.

The CHP said the crash was severe. During the CHP’s investigation, they said none of the three people in the Civic were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
