Shelby County coroner identifies victims in deadly Pelham crash

Authorities today released the identities of two people killed Wednesday afternoon in a crash on Shelby County 11 in Pelham.

Shelby County Coroner Diana New identified the victims as Eduardo Dominquez, 28, of Pelham and Rodney Anders, 59, of Hoover.

Pelham police officers and firefighters were called to the scene of the three-vehicle wreck at the entrance of Oak Forest subdivision about 4:15 p.m. A Mercedes driving north hit a Honda Odyssey van that was stopped in traffic. The Mercedes then crossed the center line of Shelby County 11 and struck a southbound Toyota Camry head-on.

The driver of the Mercedes was flown by helicopter to UAB Hospital and later died. The passenger in the Toyota Camry also was flown to UAB Hospital, and also died.
