Vancouver,WA : Second wrong-way Hwy. 14 crash still under investigation on February, Sunday 11th 2018

Investigators are still piecing together what happened with a Sunday morning three-car, impaired driving, wrong-way crash, but said state troopers actually arrested another, unrelated driver on suspicion of impaired driving as well.

The Washington State Patrol was responding early Sunday morning to two wrong-way crashes on state Highway 14 when troopers managing traffic arrested Lance Parker, 55, of Camas on suspicion of driving while impaired, agency spokesman Trooper Will Finn said.

One of the crashes killed three people, and the other, about an hour later at 2:12 a.m., injured five people.

The State Patrol said Matthew B. Slade, 42, of Mill Creek was driving west in the eastbound lanes when his car crashed into two vehicles.

Both Slade and a driver he struck, Jerry Ybarra, 53, of Salem, Ore., were cited for impaired driving. Slade was also cited for driving in the wrong direction.
