DETROIT, MI : Detroit police officer, two children, woman injured in crash on Saturday, 24th September 2016
Four people, including two children, were hurt when a Detroit police officer on his way to assist another officer struck a Chevrolet Impala that did not yield, according to Detroit police.
The officer was in "temporary serious" condition with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Two girls, ages 13 and 2, and the Impala driver, a 51-year-old woman, were in stable condition, upgraded from serious, Officer Jennifer Moreno said.
About 3:35 p.m., the officer was heading north on Linwood Street when the patrol vehicle hit the Impala, heading east on Tuxedo Street on the city's west side.
The officer had his lights activated, Moreno said. She said the Impala driver had an obligation to yield, but she was not certain whether the woman was or would be issued any citation.
All four of the injured people were taken to a hospital or hospitals for treatment.
