Meacham, OR : Two people were injured in car crash on Saturday October 11th 2014.
Two people were injured and their dog died Saturday night, when their car hit a dead black bear along Interstate 84.
According to Oregon State Police, the crash happened at 11 p.m. near Meacham. The driver, Bret Cartwright, 25, was traveling eastbound on I-84 when he changed lanes to avoid plastic vehicle parts on the road.
Upon changing lanes, Cartwright struck a dead black bear that was lying in the other lane. He said he then lost control of the car as it rolled into the center median and came to a stop.
Cartwright was transported by ambulance to St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. His 22-year-old wife received minor injuries and their 1-year-old daughter was not injured.
