Crash on I-94 snarls morning traffic, delays Red Line
A two-vehicle crash Monday morning has shut down two lanes on the southbound Dan Ryan Expressway.
The crash involved a dump truck and car about 6:10 a.m. on the southbound I-94 near 95th and 87th streets, said Illinois State Police Trooper Brian Smith.
The driver of the car was hospitalized in serious condition, Smith said. It was not immediately known how the accident occurred.
Smith added that three lanes are closed as a result of the crash.
The crash happened alongside CTA Red Line tracks, and debris made its way onto the tracks, the CTA said. As a result, Red Line trains are operating with residual delays, the CTA said.
