A Fulton man suffered serious injuries Saturday night when the car he was riding in collided with two other vehicles on Route J three-tenths of a mile south of Callaway County Road 228.

Joey Andrade, 33, of Fulton was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Lumina southbound at about 8:25 p.m. when he tried to pass another vehicle and lost control, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. Andrade’s car sideswiped a 1985 Chevrolet Silverado driven by John Mahan, 45, of Columbia, then hit a 2003 Ford F-150 driven by Joshua Dawson, 31, of Columbia head-on, the patrol said.

Andrade’s brother, Matthew Andrade, 30, was a passenger in the Lumina and suffered serious injuries, the patrol said. He was taken to University Hospital by ambulance and had been released by Monday morning.

No one else was injured. Everyone involved in the crash was wearing seat belts, the patrol said.
