Mathis, TX : Apolinar Gracida, 65, killed in single car accident on I-37 on May 11,2014

An accident just outside of Mathis has claimed the life of one person. The accident happened between Edroy and Mathis on I-37. According to state troopers, the accident happened around 12:30 Sunday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as 65 year old Apolinar Gracida from Raymondville. Troopers say the driver was headed north on I-37 when he rolled his vehicle three times.

Police believe a medical problem may have caused the driver to lose control.

Charlie Ramirez with DPS told 3 News, "he was a diabetic, probably was confused by a person that said he had called telling the family that he was meeting in Calallen area that he was disoriented thats when the crash happened."

Authorities say the man was wearing a seat belt and was the only person inside the truck.
