San Bernardino, CA : 16 taken to hospitals after Alexandria bus crash at the intersection of Elliott and Foisy streets on Thursday, 5th December, 2019

Sixteen people, including one with "potentially life-threatening injuries," were taken to local hospitals after a crash Thursday morning between a city of Alexandria bus and a pickup truck, according to a release.

The crash happened at the intersection of Elliott and Foisy streets.

The person with the potentially life-threatening injuries was from the bus, according to a release from the city. It had been traveling south on Elliott Street before the crash. It ended up hitting a wall and a utility pole.

The accident involved the city bus and a pickup truck driven by Arkita Jewell, 37, of Alexandria. The ATRANS bus, which was heading south on Elliott Street, ultimately crashed into a wall and a utility pole.

Nine bus passengers and the pickup truck driver were taken to hospitals via ambulance. The rest were taken by bus or personal vehicles.

The wreck is under investigation by the Alexandria Police Department.
