Chilton County, AL : Kimberly resident Andrew Palmer Doss, 36, died after a two-vehicle wreck just north of Clanton early Monday morning, April 4, 2016

State troopers have identified the man killed in a wreck between his car and an 18-wheeler on I-65 in Chilton County early Monday morning.

Andrew Palmer Doss, 36, of Kimberly, died in the crash. Troopers said Doss was driving a 2007 Chevrolet HHR that wrecked with a 2015 Freightliner tractor trailer and caught on fire.

Doss was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state troopers.

The wreck happened near mile marker 214, about three miles north of Clanton, around 2:30 a.m. April 4.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was able to disconnect his truck from the trailer when he realized it was on fire.

The wreck shut down both sides of the interstate for several hours.
