Sacramento, CA : One person is dead following a multi-vehicle collision on Sunday, August 20, 2017
One person is dead following a multi-vehicle, collision in the 31800 block of Highway 74, near Homeland, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident, which was first reported shortly after 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 20, was the result of an incident where one vehicle pulled out into traffic and rear-ended a second, explained CHP Officer Reddick.
Reddick said a gray Honda was traveling westbound on Highway 74, just east of the Valero gas station in the No. 1 lane when a green Ford Ranger left the gas station and pulled out to travel westbound in the same lane of traffic.
“The Honda impacted the rear of the pickup truck, causing the pickup truck to overturn,” Reddick said. “The party was extricated – that was the driver of the pickup truck – and has succumbed to his injuries,” she said.
No one else was injured in the collision.
The driver of the Honda was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving while under the influence.
