Lubbock, TX : One dead, one person arrested after early fatal wreck Sunday morning on Sunday, March 12th 2017

One person is dead as Lubbock Police continue to investigate a two-vehicle crash that happened early Sunday morning.

The crash occurred at 19th Street and Kewanee Avenue about 1:58 a.m., according to LPD spokeswoman Tiffany Pelt.Officials say Maxwell Ezell, 24, was driving a Chevrolet Camaro westbound in the 6200 block of 19th Street when he struck the back of a Mazda traveling west in front of him.

“The Mazda came to a stop in the 6300 block of 19th Street,” said Pelt. “The Camaro continued traveling and struck the back of a Ford pickup truck stopped at the northbound stop sign of 1900 Kewanee (Ave).”

The driver of the Mazda, a 55-year-old woman, was taken to University Medical Center. She was pronounced dead later at the hospital, said Pelt.

“During the course of the investigation,” she said, “Ezell was arrested, and he is now charged with intoxication manslaughter.”

No other injuries have been reported at this time.

The Accident Investigation team was called out to investigate the fatal wreck.
